AN AMERICAN WARNING
Because you should know!
November 2006 - Posts
-
Some people seem to think you should have less freedom to protect yourself in America's national parks than you have almost anywhere else.
Across the country, crime is rising in our national parks. They've become a base of operations for criminals ranging from illegal ginseng pickers and black bear poachers to marijuana farmers, meth lab cooks, drug smugglers and illegal immigrants.
Meanwhile, despite increased budgets, there are fewer U.S. Park Police today than there were before 9/11.
Yet under current National Park Service regulations, you're not allowed to have a firearm to protect yourself or your family-regardless of state law.
To correct that, U.S. Senator George Allen has introduced S. 4057, which would protect the Second Amendment Right to Carry in all national parks, so long as that doesn't contradict state law.
Seems to make sense, right? After all, you shouldn't have to give up your constitutional rights as soon as you set foot in a national park.
But to date, not a single senator on Capitol Hill has stepped forward to co-sponsor this important bill.
And the New York Times, in its typical snotty fashion, said, "We hope the bill will die the miserable death it deserves." The bill, they claimed, "can only endanger the public."
But history proves the point: Freedom doesn't endanger anyone. Violent felons do.
Last year, there were scores of killings and rapes committed in America's national parks, and almost 4,000 serious crimes investigated by park rangers.
In fact, National Park Service officers are 12 times more likely than FBI agents to be killed or injured due to a criminal assault.
If National Park Service employees can't protect you, then you have every right to demand that freedom as your own.
If a state honors the Right to Carry within its borders, then so should every national park within those same borders. And American media ought to agree out loud.

There's a reason that few in the United States are calling for an across-the-board ban on firearms these days.
That's because they've learned not to try to ban them all in one fell swoop.
Instead, the disarmament crowd calls for banning certain types of guns. Guns that are too big, or too small. Guns that are too affordable, or too exotic. Guns that are too scary-looking, or too easy to conceal.
This approach has had a great deal of success outside the United States. Scotland, for instance, has been banning ownership of pistols for a decade. But every year, their crime figures prove that banning guns doesn't work.
The latest figures from the Scottish government show that crimes involving banned firearms are increasing in Scotland, but crimes involving legally owned firearms are decreasing.
The number of criminals using banned handguns is up seven percent over last year, while the overall number of guns used in crime is down six percent over the same time period. What makes this even more important is that the number of legally owned firearms is climbing as well, reaching the highest level in five years.
You won't see this story reported in the American media. Papers like the New York Times and the Washington Post are still obsessed with banning all guns, believing it will somehow lower the crime rate.
But the gun-ban facts from Scotland - and everywhere else - tell a different story, year after year.

I read lots of newspapers, and most editorial writers are pretty clear about what they believe when it comes to the Second Amendment.
But at the New York Times, they're really confused. So they assume everyone in America is just as confused as they are.
Here's what the Times had to say about Right-to-Carry in a recent editorial:
"America's confusion about the Second Amendment is now nearly total. An amendment that ensures a collective right to bear arms has been misread in one legislature after another - often in the face of strong public disapproval - as a law guaranteeing an individual's right to carry a weapon in public."
You know, if we're going to rely on the New York Times to educate us on the Second Amendment, we might as well learn to drive from Ted Kennedy, or maybe get a lesson in humility from John Kerry.
The Times can repeat a lie over and over again, but it still doesn't make it true.
The truth is that almost everyone agrees that the Second Amendment is about individual rights, just like the rest of the Bill of Rights.
Even anti-gun scholars like Saul Cornell acknowledge that fact. But the New York Times won't.
And never will.

I'm starting to think some politicians in San Francisco have lost their hearts as well as their minds.
Last year, they tried to pass a ban on ownership of handguns, as well as a complete ban on the sale of firearms and ammunition in the city. Now the local school board is trying to end the JROTC program in San Francisco public schools.
Board member Dan Kelly says JROTC is "a recruiting program for the military."
Even if that were true, would that be a bad thing? The men and women serving in our armed forces should be applauded, not denigrated. But that might be too much to ask of San Francisco.
Even Mayor Gavin Newsome gets it. He called the decision disrespectful of the armed services.
He's right. He's also right that this is going to make some residents leave the city. They've already shown disgust for our Second Amendment rights. Now they're turning up their noses at the men and women who guard their freedoms every day. They should be ashamed.

Now that the Thanksgiving holiday is over, it's time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work. Congress still has a couple of weeks before the anti-gun leaders take over, and NRA is going to try to use that time to try to get HR 5092 passed.
HR 5092 is also known as the BATFE Modernization and Reform Act. It's legislation that's extremely important, not just for gun sellers, but gun owners as well. We're losing our places to purchase firearms, and this bill will help stop that by ending the practice of revoking licenses for unintentional clerical errors. You can find out more about this bill by visiting www.nraila.org.
The talking heads say that this is a do-nothing Congress, that nothing can get passed until the new session starts. Let's prove them wrong. Call your senators today, and urge them to vote on HR 5092. It won't be easy, but I think we can get this bill signed into law before Nancy Pelosi and the other anti-gunners take charge.

As you celebrate Thanksgiving, you'll no doubt hear a lot from the media and politicians about what we should be thankful for... but, for NRA members and gun owners... as usual... they'll miss a lot.
I can't think of a better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than by spending time with our families. I'm also thankful for the men and women who leave their families behind to put their lives' on the line to protect us. They fight abroad for the freedom we are charged to protect here at home.
And I'm grateful for my NRA family and the kinship I feel with my fellow patriots on the front lines of defending freedom. Our diligent struggle to defend our rights and to pass them on to future generations is as uniquely American as Thanksgiving itself.
Even though the media won't admit it, the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is the one freedom that makes all others possible. No, reporters don't talk about it, but our Second Amendment guarantees their First Amendment-and the rest of the Bill of Rights.
You could even say that the Second Amendment is, in reality, America's First Freedom, for without it, there would be no freedom of speech or assembly or anything else. And for that, we can all be thankful.... even if the media won't admit it.
So, turn off the evening news and put down the paper. Take a moment to reflect upon our family, our nation, our freedom and our NRA. There's a lot to be grateful for.

I can't believe it. A paper's written about right to carry, and they didn't use the phrase "blood in the streets." They didn't compare it to the days of the "Wild West." The reporter didn't try to scare his readers, just educate them. Good for the Memphis Commercial-Appeal.
The right to carry story admits that Memphis, Tennessee has its share of violent crime. But reporter Don Wade points out that there are more and more armed citizens willing to stand up to criminals.
Like Chris Cope, who stopped an attack on several individuals at a local grocery store. Or the 53-year-old convenience store worker from Thailand who stopped an armed robber early one morning.
The people of Memphis have had enough.
Wade also quotes Memphis Police Sgt. Vince Higgins, who says he's all for an armed populace. And Wade concludes his piece by telling us that the people in his right to carry course aren't looking for trouble, they're just trying to stay safe.
It's a fair, accurate story-and something you'll never see in the national media.

On a crowded Queens street in Long Island last week, rush hour pedestrians were terrified by a hail of machine gun fire, according to the New York Post (11/15/06). The Post described the scary scene in detail... but failed to even mention how the whole thing could have been prevented.
Near one of the city's busiest subway stations, a criminal armed with an illegal .45 caliber machine gun, outfitted with a silencer and extended magazine, began firing several rounds into the air. Frightened pedestrians ran for cover. Apparently, no innocent lives were lost, and the man was soon shot and apprehended by police.
That's good news.
But the bad news is what the Post didn't tell readers - that the entire crime could have been, and should have been, prevented.
The perpetrator had five prior arrests, including two for criminal possession of a firearm.
And although the Post ignored it, those two crimes alone allowed authorities to send this armed criminal to a federal prison for a total of ten years. That's right - ten hard years of federal time... instead of being free to roam Queens with an illegal gun.
So, if you hear New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg or Senator Chuck Schumer or Hillary Clinton talking about the need for more gun control laws to prevent such frightening crimes... remind them of that number ten.
That's how many years this guy should have been rotting away in a prison cell.

It's hunting season, which means it's time for us to enjoy nature's bounty. Freezers will soon be stocked with enough venison to last throughout the year, and fresh game will be on the table in homes across the country. But hunters will also share their harvest with those less fortunate, donating hundreds of thousands of meals worth of game to food pantries in the United States.
And all of that makes the animal-rights extremists sick.
These lunatics, who'd rather see a deer get hit by a car than end up as dinner, are having a busy year. Two of them have already chained themselves to the doors of the Catholic diocese in Long Island, upset because the Church is allowing a deer cull to take place on its property.
In Virginia, two PETA employees have been charged with grand larceny after they were caught with a hunting dog belonging to a county animal control officer. PETA says the employees were going to return the dog to its owner, but police say the dog's radio tracking collar had been removed. Luckily for the owner, someone spotted the PETA employees loading the dog into their car. If the hound had made it back to PETA headquarters, there's a good chance he never would have seen it again. After all, PETA kills the vast majority of animals it takes in.
It's bizarre, isn't it? PETA opposes hunting of any kind, even when humans and animals alike benefit. But they don't mind killing household pets.
This hunting season, be safe in the field. And keep your dogs safe, too, by keeping them away from the animal rights extremists.

The following is a true story: Greg Carvell was in his gun store when a man armed with a machete stormed in. He demanded that Greg give him a gun, or else he would kill Greg and his employees. Greg gave him a gun. Actually, Greg gave him the business end of a .45. When police arrived, the bad guy was still there, stopped by Greg's swift action with his gun. They arrested him and charged him with assault with intent to rob. The police know Greg acted in self-defense. And that should be the end of another successful armed citizen story.
But this isn't the United States we're talking about-it's New Zealand. And prosecutors there wanted to make an example of Greg Carvell, so they charged him with unlawful possession of a firearm.
Yes, you heard that right. The gun-store owner's been charged with unlawfully possessing the firearm. As you can imagine, Carvell's family is furious. His father suspects the reason the government has brought this charge against him is because it doesn't require a jury trial.
The law-abiding gun store owner can be accused, tried and sentenced without Greg Carvell's peers ever having a chance to tell the government how wrong it is.
It's a trumped-up charge designed to make people think twice about defending themselves. The people of New Zealand should be outraged at the government's actions. On December 6, Greg Carvell's supposed to go to court. When I find out what happens, you'll hear about it right here.

A few days ago, I told you about the trial of Jackson, Mississippi Mayor Frank Melton. This member of Mayor Bloomberg,s anti-gun group stood accused of illegally carrying a firearm in a school, a church and a park.
Well, now there's no accused about it. Melton copped a plea earlier this week, a plea that keeps him in office and out of jail. But he admitted illegally carrying a concealed firearm where the law prohibits it. And yes, he's still a part of Mayor Bloomberg's anti-gun group.
So here's a question for Mike Bloomberg: Are you so desperate to try and inflate the numbers of your group that you'll keep a mayor convicted of gun crimes on the roll?
I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for an answer. I think I know what it would be anyway.

One of the best things about having this blog is that I can share armed citizen stories with you-stories you won't see anywhere else.
Nobody goes looking for trouble. But when a criminal comes calling, it's rewarding to hear about someone who was able to save his or her life with the help of a firearm.
In Philadelphia recently, the owner of a south-side barbershop was robbed at gunpoint. But the robber didn't know the barber was also a legal gun owner. The bad guy's now recovering in a local hospital and will be facing charges as soon as he gets out.
In Knoxville, Tennessee, a local politician became an armed citizen when an armed robber confronted him at his car dealership. Greg Lambert says a 19-year-old man posed as a car buyer, then tried to rob him when the two were alone. With the help of his thirty-eight, Lambert held the would-be robber until police arrived.
Two stories from two very different parts of the country with the same result: The good guys win, and the bad guys are out of commission.
Studies tell us it happens a couple of million times a year. But stopping crime with the help of a firearm is still a story the media keep secret.

Last week I told you that this election was an ominous day for gun owners. Now, less than a week after the results have been tallied, the anti-gun groups are already clamoring for action.
In an article in the Los Angeles Times, the new guy running the Brady Campaign said he's going to push for a renewal of the Clinton Gun Ban, and you can bet it's going to be worse than it was the first time.
New York Congressman Charlie Rangel says he wants to work with New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg to get gun-control laws passed through the Congress.
The anti-gun groups think that 2007 will be the year things turn around. I think they're wrong, but it's going to take all of us working together to stop the wolves at the door.
We're going to work with our allies in Congress-on both sides of the aisle-to remind them that Americans don't intend to surrender their freedoms to give failed gun policy another chance.
We'll remind them that the majority of Americans agree that we don't need new gun-control laws. They want their government to enforce the laws we have.
But we can't do it without your help. Spread the word, and get involved.
Like all of our liberties, Second Amendment freedom once again calls for eternal vigilance.

What does it take for The New York Times to ask Mayor Mike Bloomberg and his group of anti-gun mayors the tough questions?
Apparently they'll leave Bloomberg alone, even when one of those mayors goes on trial for illegally carrying a concealed handgun.
In Jackson, Mississippi, Mayor Frank Melton is scheduled to go on trial for illegally carrying his concealed firearm inside a church, a school, and a park.
We can debate whether or not the law is right, but one thing is certain: Prosecutors believe Melton broke the law.
Melton was one of the first mayors to sign up with Bloomberg's anti-gun group, and he followed his meeting at Gracie Mansion with a call to ban all gun shows in Jackson.
I guess that's enough to keep him in Bloomberg's good graces, because as of this writing, he’s still on the list of mayors fighting for New York-style gun-control laws... even in Mississippi.
Obviously you're innocent until proven guilty. But isn't it newsworthy when a mayor who supports more gun-control laws is accused of breaking laws already on the books?
I think so, even if The New York Times and most media in the nation don't.

You might think that Massachusetts can't become any more anti-gun.
Well, think again. Now there's a proposal to ban BB guns in Massachusetts. Complete with a BB gun amnesty period. And a BB gun buyback program.
Millions of kids have grown up with BB and pellet guns. I don't know of any that were turned into criminals by their Daisy Red Ryder BB gun.
But that doesn't matter to the politicians in Massachusetts. They think BB guns are bad, and they want them outlawed.
In fact, these politicians not only plan to ban BB guns in Massachusetts, they're sending letters to Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island to ask those states to do the same.
In the words of one of these anti-gun politicians, their goal is to make "New England an area free of pellet guns and BB guns."
'Scuse me, but isn't Massachusetts the same home state of some of the bravest patriots to fight in the Revolutionary War? Paul Revere must be rolling over in his grave right now.
In Massachusetts, they've gone from the cradle of liberty to a state that treats its residents like children.

They didn't tell you who was behind what happened in Michigan on Election Day.
Animal rights extremists spent more than two million dollars - two million dollars - to convince Michigan voters to ban dove hunting.
The big spender in the dove hunting ban was the Humane Society of the United States.
Now, maybe you think the Humane Society is some little group of pet lovers who care for stray cats and dogs. Nope. They're one of the nation's wealthiest groups of extremist anti-hunting activists.
They spent at least 1.6 million dollars in Michigan on an ad campaign that portrayed doves as too small to eat and as a symbol of "peace."
This stealth campaign didn't attack hunters, just the hunting of one type of game bird. But according to Eric Sharp, a columnist with the Detroit Free Press, the ad campaign even suckered hunters into voting to ban dove hunting.
The Humane Society says dove hunting is nothing but cruel "target practice." In fact, they say hunters themselves are cruel, inhumane and uncaring people.
This anti-hunting group did a great job of camouflaging their views and duping sportsmen into banning their own dove hunt. And now that they've tasted success, they'll be back for more.
Hunters: Don't make the same mistake twice. Even if you don't hunt dove, an attack on any type of hunting is an attack on you. Because sooner or later, they'll be going after your favorite game animal.
Don't let the anti-hunting forces pick us off one by one. Band together and stand up for hunting!
As Benjamin Franklin said, "We must hang together. Or surely we will all hang separately."

As we celebrate Veterans Day this weekend, you'll hear a lot from the media about supporting our troops and honoring our nation's veterans.
They'll tell you about veterans and our military, but they won't tell you about NRA's long history of support for America's fighting forces-because that wouldn't fit the media's instinct to demonize gun owners.
You won't hear that, in 1871, a group of National Guard officers founded the NRA to train American troops in firearm safety and marksmanship. You won't hear that, in 1917, the NRA opened all of its firing ranges to train America's World War I recruits.
And they won't tell you how the NRA helped save Great Britain in World War II. In 1940, only the British Navy, a vastly outnumbered Royal Air Force, and 21 miles of water separated Great Britain from defeat by the German Blitz. Practically all of the Brits' arms and equipment had been destroyed or abandoned at Dunkirk.
It was a defenseless nation and easy prey for Hitler's forces.
In November of 1940, the NRA launched a major campaign to "Send a gun to defend a British home!" Almost overnight, NRA members had collected more than 7,000 firearms to arm British police and Home Guard units-all freely given without compensation.
A grateful Winston Churchill said that, because of the support of NRA members and Americans, his nation had been transformed from defenseless prey into an armed "hornets nest."
No, the media won't tell you those kinds of stories. But they remain alive in the soul of every one of our four million members, because NRA has always supported our military men and women... and always will.

While the media trumpets the Democrats' march into Washington and our state Houses, you've got to understand what's really happening.
Voters think they opened the door for Bush-haters. But in fact, gun-haters rushed in ... unleashing an avalanche of power into the hands of the hardcore anti-gunners in Congress.
These are politicians who ran for office condemning our president and the war. But they're taking over as the most anti-gun crop of lawmakers in our lifetimes.
They had learned the NRA's brutal lesson that you can't be elected running on an anti-gun agenda. So they kept their anti-gun views to themselves throughout the campaign.
Once elected, they turned over control of your gun rights to the Schumers, Kennedys, Feinsteins, Boxers, Pelosis and Conyers of Congress.
That's why Tuesday will be recorded as the first day of an ominous future for Second Amendment freedom.
For gun owners, it's not a setback-yet. But it's an urgent call to muster now.
Because the positions of leadership in the Congress will now be populated by members of the deeply entrenched, veteran anti-gun crowd.
Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi is an ultra-left-wing San Francisco millionaire whose anti-gun history spans decades. As powerful Speaker of the House, she'll also be third in line for the presidency.
And the next chairman of the House Judiciary Committee is sure to be John Conyers, who says the Second Amendment confers no individual rights at all, with Charlie Rangel running Ways and Means. And the powerful House Rules Committee will be chaired by "F" anti-gun Louise Slaughter of New York. In the Senate, Pat Leahy will likely chair the Judiciary Committee. It goes on and on.
But don't get me wrong: Not all the news is bad for gun owners.
We owe our gratitude to voters and activists all over the country who worked so hard to elect pro-gun state legislators, and who returned dozens of Second Amendment supporters to Congress- both Democrats and Republicans.
The NRA is going to stand and fight after the elections just as we did before the elections, in every district and precinct and city in this country. America's sacred institution of freedom will not be abandoned just because power has shifted.
But make no mistake: Anti-gunners now control most key positions and slots in Congress.
We can't wait until they've destroyed 25 years of our hard labor. We must start fighting today ... or tomorrow, we'll start over.
Spread the word to America's gun owners. If they've wandered away from NRA, it's time to muster. Sign up, recruit, enlist, renew, upgrade, get informed, get involved and get ready for battle again.
It's an ominous day: The enemy has occupied headquarters, control has fallen into their hands, and freedom is once again calling for her defenders.

They've told you today's Election Day. But they haven't told you how powerful your vote can be, especially if you're a gun owner.
Gun owners have changed the outcomes of elections in this country - over and over and over again.
Without gun owners, we wouldn't have seen the sweeping changes in the 1994 elections.
Without gun owners, Al Gore would've been elected president in 2000. He might still be in the White House today if it weren't for gun owners.
Were it not for gun owners, John Kerry would almost certainly have won the 2004 presidential race.
You've probably heard talking heads say that "this is the most important election in recent history."
For once they're right. Every election is the most important in recent history. We can't afford to pat ourselves on the back over what went right in the last election. We have to make sure things go right in this one.
So on this Election Day, remember:
We're the NRA. We number in the millions.
Today we vote. And when we Vote Freedom First, we change history.

This blog is where I can tell you what most media won't.
But today I want to tell you one of many good news stories that you won't see in your local paper. It comes from the folks at Ohioans for Concealed Carry.
A woman named Catherine DeMarsh-Hellwig recently told her story about getting those "no guns allowed" signs taken down from a business she frequents.
She said she approached the store owner and calmly explained why "no guns allowed" signs are a bad idea. He not only took down the sign, he let Catherine keep it as a souvenir.
I say way to go Catherine! Stories like hers prove that we can appeal to the common sense of business owners who put up "no guns allowed" signs.
If they think about it, they don't want their business to be a victim disarmament zone. They want their business to benefit from right to carry laws - a place where criminals fear to tread because they don’t know who might be armed.
Besides, a "no guns allowed" sign won't stop a criminal from robbing a business. But it sure does discourage law-abiding gun owners from shopping there.
Get a souvenir of freedom of your own. It might take time and patience, but you can be just as successful as Catherine at businesses you frequent. Be polite, be reasonable and explain why "no guns allowed" signs aren't good business.
If the business owner doesn't see the light, maybe he'll see how it affects his bottom line.

For a guy who might be running for president, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg sure is saying a lot of stupid things. Bloomberg recently exposed his ignorance about American history, but most of the media ignored it.
He was talking about licensed concealed carry in the Big Apple, which only exists for the elite and privileged. Mayor Bloomberg said, "I do think that having concealed weapons on the streets of major cities is not something that is in the interests of the citizens of those cities in this day and age, and I don't think the Founding Fathers really thought about that when they drafted the Constitution."
Oh really? Mayor Bloomberg knows what our Founding Fathers were thinking?
I hate to give Mayor Bloomberg a history lesson, but New York City didn't even have a police department until 1844. Who does Bloomberg think was responsible for defending citizens before then, the Tooth Fairy?
No, the people of New York City had the right and responsibility to look out for their own security.
Even if Mayor Bloomberg believes that the police should be the only means to protect the people, the Founding Fathers would laugh him out of town.
Mr. Bloomberg should go back and read the philosophers that influenced our Founding Fathers. Start with John Locke and Thomas Hobbes, Mr. Mayor. The right of self-defense is one of the bedrock principles central to the minds that founded this country, and it’s embarrassing that you don't know that.
But back to the 21st century. In New York City only a few rich and well-connected celebrities get concealed-carry permits. But Nanny Bloomberg says that number's going to get smaller.
Somehow I doubt he means he's taking away the concealed-carry permits of celebrities like Robert DeNiro and Donald Trump. If you're a Big Cheese in the Big Apple, you might get the right to self-defense.
But average Joes need not apply.

Think about these towns, and what they have in common:
Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Billings, Montana.
Sparks, Nevada.
Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Fargo, North Dakota.
Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
They're all filled with honest, freedom-loving Americans, for sure. But you're not being told what else those towns have in common.
The mayors of those towns have been meeting with New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg, and now they're all pushing for New York-style gun-control laws in their cities.
What are these mayors doing riding around in limousines and meeting behind closed doors to get brainwashed about big-city gun control?
Why are these mayors falling for Mike Bloomberg's New York-style gun control when the residents of their cities don't want it?
Why are these mayors so star-struck with the mayor of the Big Apple, yet so out of touch with the voters who put them in office?
And what are the local media in these cities doing to inform residents about what their mayors are doing?
At NRANews.com, we saw the mayor of Knoxville say he didn't join Bloomberg's anti-gun group. But his name is still up on Bloomberg's website as one of Bloomberg's buddies.
If your mayor's name is on Bloomberg's list, let's demand to know why. I'm calling on the news reporters in all these cities to ask their mayors why they suddenly support New York-style gun control.
And if your local reporters won't ask the tough questions, NRA reporters will. Either way, we'll report what these mayors are up to.

Recently, the anti-gun Brady Campaign teamed up with a few big-city police chiefs to attack the NRA.
You might've heard some of their lies about the NRA. Egged on by the Brady Campaign, these police chiefs actually said that the NRA is a friend to criminals, not law enforcement!
Unbelievable.
But they didn't tell you that these big-city police chiefs are political appointees. They're politicians, not cops ... and they're playing politics.
These big-city police chiefs attacked the NRA's efforts to pass a bill that would keep firearm tracing information in the hands of law enforcement, instead of big-city mayors who want to spin the data to sue gun makers.
They didn't tell you that this legislation has the support of major law enforcement groups like the Fraternal Order of Police and the Law Enforcement Alliance of America, who represent rank-and-file cops.
These chiefs oughta think about where they'd be without NRA support for law enforcement the past 135 years.
How many thousands of their officers were trained by NRA-certified firearms instructors? How many millions of their citizens benefit from those well-trained men and women in blue? Without NRA, where would that training come from? The Brady Campaign? Fat chance.
I'm proud of NRA's history of leadership in support of law enforcement and the good relationship we have with police officers all across this country.
That's not going to change just because some fat-cat, big-city police chiefs want to cozy up to the Brady Bunch.
