Recreate 1968......why would ANYBODY want to do that?

Recreate 1968……why would anybody want to do that?

by Daniel Hunter

Now, I wasn’t around for 1968 (I’m a young buck of 22 years), but I can imagine that it totally SUCKED from what I’ve been reading, and guess what?  A group of left wing radical nuts plans on recreating one of America’s lowest points in history.  They are a group called the Recreate 68’ Alliance.  According to their website, www.recreate68.org, they are a branch of a group called the All Nations Alliance.  From what I could gather on their site, they actually sound like a very concerned group of “grassroots” activists.  I, myself, am a grassroots Constitutionalist.  They seemed pretty cool, but I looked into the group a bit more; mainly because I saw the words “racism” and “imperialism” in their “about us” section on the site.  These are two words only leftists use.

On their site, www.recreate68.org, the Recreate 68’ Alliance states, In 1968 there existed a spirit of change, the Paris Rebellion, Prague, Chicago, Vietnam, etc. People believed, around the world, that they were capable of taking over the institutions that controlled their lives. The smell of revolution was in the air. Over 1 million college students openly identified as revolutionist. People believed that through mass participation in the movement, it was possible to wrest control from the elite power-holders. They were not willing to accept the loss of their human and civil rights.”  They make what has been called the Chicago “police riots” of 1968 sound like a GREAT THING!  For those of you who don’t remember, or those who weren’t alive for the time and haven’t looked into it, the 1968 Chicago “police riots” were terrible.  According to http://www.jofreeman.com/photos/convention68.html a few thousand descended on Chicago to protest the Vietnam War during the Democratic National Convention.  A much bigger protest was planned, but, obviously, many of the would be participants flaked out.  Many of these protesters were pro-communist, Che Guevara loving hippies.  On a little side note:  I think it’s funny that hippies, who were all about sex, love, and rock n’ roll, LOVED Che Guevara.  Guevara was notorious for executing people for simply growing their hair out long and listening to evil American rock n’ roll.  So, many of the people in America that supported, and, sadly enough, STILL support Guevara would have been put to death, execution style, buy Guevara himself.  Good thing Guevara was put to death by his idol, Fidel Castro.  Anyway, many of the protesters massed in Lincoln Park.  Police and National Guardsmen routed the protesters.  There were 589 arrests and many injuries.  http://www.jofreeman.com/photos/convention68.html reports a teenager being relentlessly clubbed by police after he tried to lower an American flag.  Many of the protesters ran to his aid and were clubbed relentlessly as well.  All in all, the protesters lost, the police won, and the demonstrations killed the Democrats chances of winning the 1968 Presidential Election.  It sounds like a good time was had by all at the 1968 Chicago police riots (I can’t help myself.  I’m just a sarcastic guy.)!

The name of the Recreate 68’ Alliance tells all.  They want to recreate the Chicago police riots of 1968 with one little change:  They want to win the confrontation.  Their plan is, according to http://michellemalkin.com/2008/03/21/recreate-68-threatens-democrat-convention-in-denver/, to hold a protest outside of this year’s Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado taking place on August 24th, through 28th.  The Recreate 68’ Alliance applied for a permit to do so, but lost the permit “lottery” to Jenny Anderson, event planner for the Denver 2008 Convention Host Committee.  After losing the permit lottery, an organizer for the Recreate 68’ Alliance, Glenn Spagnuolo, accused the Convention Host Committee of creating a very serious, dangerous situation . . . for everybody.”  That doesn’t sound like a threat at all, right?  He also said, “When things blow up because the police have to enforce a permit that the Democrats got, don’t blame us for that.  Blame the Democrats for trying to silence dissent in the city of Denver.”  Why, these aren’t militant leftist at all.  No, they’re just concerned citizens.  Clearly, the Recreate 68’ Alliance is showing its true colors and intentions.  According to the Denver post (The article is posted on http://michellemalkin.com/2008/03/21/recreate-68-threatens-democrat-convention-in-denver/) Spegnuolo said, “We’re having our protest at Civic Center.  We’re not going to give up Civic Center Park to the Democrats. . . . They are creating a very dangerous situation.”  The Article went on to say, “He (Spengnuolo) said Thursday that he would not respect the host committee’s permit and would occupy the park, even if it forced police to intervene.”  According to Spegnuolo, the Recreate 68’ Alliance has 50,000 ready and willing protesters that plan on marching from Civic Center Park to the Pepsi Center on August 24th.

The Recreate 68’ Alliance is dangerous, plain and simple.  These radical leftist (who probably are Communist, but don’t have the guts to out right say it.) are planning a demonstration they KNOW is going to get violent, and they’re doing it on purpose.  I have a theory, or a hypothesis, if you will.  The Recreate 68’ Alliance wants to get the beat down from the police.  They want things to get ugly.  They know if they start a big enough ruckus they’ll get national media attention.  This gives them both, the sympathy factor, and a venue to spout their rhetoric.  And, of course, all they have to do is blame it on “imperialism”, “racism”, and an unfair, unjust, insensitive government.  Let’s be real though.  Every time there is a BIG civil upheaval it’s always followed by the Federal Government levying more control over the people.  If the Recreate 68’ Alliance goes through with this demonstration it’s going to result in a couple of things.  Thing #1:  It’s going to make the Democratic Party look VERY bad (not that it’s very hard to make the Democrats look bad).  The Democratic Party will be dropping some heavy hammers on their radical left base.  Thing #2:  It’s going to give the Federal Government yet another excuse to levy heavier controls on the people.  I’m pretty sure new laws will be promptly passed restricting the right to peaceful assembly if this Recreate 68’ demonstration happens.  Mark my words:   This Recreate 68’ demonstration is only going to hurt America over all.  It’s not going to open the eyes of our leaders.  It’s not going to compel our Government to pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan, which is the point of the demonstration, and, of course, the destruction of the political party system.  I can’t really say that I can argue with the destruction of the political party system, but these people want to replace it with some nutty socialist system.  What everybody reading this blog should do is contact the Recreate 68’ Alliance at www.recreate68.org and urge them to cancel the demonstration.  I doubt they’ll listen, but, in the end, they can’t say they weren’t warned.  It’s the only thing I can think to do.  Maybe if enough people contact them, they’ll change their plan of action to something a bit less CRAZY.  We can’t control the actions of other people, but we can call them out for doing, or wanting to do, stupid things!

Real ID = Real Totalitarianism

Real ID = Real Totalitarianism

by Daniel Hunter

As many of you already know, President Bush, in his infinite wisdom (that’s sarcasm), signed into law the blatantly totalitarian Real ID Act in 2005.  What most people don’t know are the erroneous circumstances surrounding the Real ID Act and the negative impact it will have on the everyday American.  Wanting to plunge head first into the rabbit hole to find out more about the Real ID Act, I did some very extensive research.  Most of the websites I found that talked about the Real ID Act were conspiracy theory sites.  Needless to say, unreliable sources.  Then I stumbled across a very interesting PDF file (http://epic.org/privacy/id-cards/epic_realid_comments.pdf ) that was written by the ELECTRONIC PRIVACY INFORMATION CENTER (EPIC).  The document itself is the compiled comments of a group of experts on privacy and technology.  They had some really interesting things to say about the Real ID Act.  Pretty much, they HATE THE HELL OUT OF IT!  What really caught my interest is the fact that the document is very well articulated, and reliable sources are sited for just about EVERY fact stated.  I had hit a gold mine.  Now that I am armed with the facts of the matter, here are my thoughts and comments concerning the Real ID Act that I think YOU need to know.

Those who drafted the Real ID Act KNEW it wouldn’t fly with the American people.  “How do you know that?” you ask.  I know this for a fact because the Real ID Act was actively flown in under the radar.  Those who want to implement this new communistic identification system (The Department of Homeland Security and, of course, George Bush along with MOST OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!) didn’t want the average American, the media (not that they would even report on it.), or even the few informed and intelligent Americans that are left in this country to catch wind of it until it was waaaaaay too late.  The Real ID Act was strategically appended to a bill providing tsunami relief and military appropriations with stealthy precision.  Now what the hell does a universal identification system have to do with tsunami relief and military appropriations?  You got me there.  Clearly, somebody (or multiple bodies) didn’t want much of anybody to know about it.  The bill was passed with little debate. Some senators weakly and pathetically whispered urges to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist to hold hearings on the bill and allow a separate vote on the Real ID Act.  They obviously didn’t urge hard enough.  I really don’t think they cared much at all, that’s my opinion anyway.

According to the EPIC, throughout the years the people and, surprisingly enough, the Federal Government has consistently rejected the idea of a universal Identification system. The Carter Administration rejected the idea (that SHOCKED the hell out of me!  Seriously, it really did.), as did the Reagan Administration.  Both administrations were approached with the idea and shot it down, and rightly so.  Leave it to good ol’ George W. to be the first to give the OK.  George Bush has consistently been trading our freedoms (most especially privacy) for “security”.  Can anybody say, “The Patriot Act”?  Seriously, just look at the name of the damn thing.  Using almost subliminal subterfuge George Bush has gotten the people of America to think that if you don’t support his “security” plan (The Patriot Act) you’re not a patriot.  And, of course, George Bush and his cohorts are “patriots” for creating such a benevolent (again with the sarcasm) set of laws and procedures to “protect” the citizens of this nation.  No worries though. Who needs privacy anyway?  Who cares that we can now be detained for up to 48 hrs for no apparent reason by the feds?  Who cares if the feds are casually monitoring our e-mails and cell phone calls without warrants, or even PROBABLE CAUSE, not to mention the myriad of other breaches on the American people’s privacy that are made legal by the Patriot Act.  I didn’t like my privacy anyway.   Well, it seems that big headed feds were so happy with how well the Patriot Act went, with the whole little to no REAL public opposition, that they’re using the same subliminal subterfuge with the Real ID.  You see it’s the REAL ID, opposed to the fake ID you have now (more sarcasm).  You don’t HAVE to get a REAL ID, but that would make life worlds harder for you.  If you don’t get a REAL ID that would imply that the one you have isn’t 100% legit.  You’re only complete if you have a REAL ID.  The sad part is a lot of people will fall for that one, as mundane as it is.  The EPIC voices concerns about the “voluntary” nature of the Real ID.  The Department of Homeland Security wants the Real ID to be used in everyday transactions.  Now that last sentence just caught the attention of all the Christians reading this.  Remember the whole mark of the beast thing?  The Bible states that, in the end times, no one will be able to buy sell or trade anything without the “mark”.  The DHS wants to make it to where you CAN NOT buy sell or trade anything without the Real ID (Let it be known that I don’t necessarily believe that the Real ID is the mark of the beast, but I think a giant leap towards it.).  According to the act, you don’t have to get a Real ID, but you can’t do much of anything without it.  Even the best dictators couldn’t have created a better system.  Call it voluntary, but force everybody to do it.

Clearly, the DHS and those who wish to force the Real ID down the throats of the American people have deeply nefarious intentions.  According to the DHS only a small part of the Real ID Act must be in accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974.  But according to the OMB (Office of Management and Budget a FEDERAL agency) the ENTIRE Real ID Act must be in accordance with the laws and provisions laid out by the Privacy Act of 1974.  Despite this, the DHS has no intention of having the entire Real ID program follow the provisions and laws of the 1974 Privacy Act, effectively undermining our fundamental rights to privacy;  an act of classic totalitarianism.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, the Real ID will greatly increase national security and protect Americans from both domestic and foreign threats (that’s a paraphrase, of course.).  They say that the Real ID will help cut down on illegal immigration, identity theft, and a slew of America’s modern ails.   The beneficent and magnanimous Department of Homeland Security is only looking out for our best interests.  Yeah, and Code Pink is only looking out for the best interests of the military!  According to the EPIC, the Real ID actually makes it EASYER for someone to steal your identity!  They site a couple of reasons why.  First and foremost is the fact that the DHS plans on making DMV workers the primary issuers of Real ID’s.  In order to protect the identity of the citizens, the DHS plans on having DMV workers spot phony Real ID’s,  and other documents to verify citizenship.  Problem is, DMV workers aren’t trained to do that.  The DHS has recognized this problem and has cooked up a half baked plan to fix it.  They plan to give DMV workers a twelve hour crash course on false document identification.  Twelve whole hours to decipher whether or not the most complicated ID documents (birth certificates, Real ID Drivers licenses, passports, Federal immigration documents, etc) in the history of mankind are false or not.  Wow!  They must think that DMV workers catch on to complicated and tedious verification procedures impossibly fast!  But, according to the EPIC, Federal Government workers don’t.  Here’s a quote that will shock you.  “…the Government Accountability Office review reported difficulty with detection of fraudulent birth certificates. In one case, a fake in-state birth certificate was detected, but “SSA staff acknowledged that if a counterfeit out-of-state birth certificate had been used, SSA would likely have issued the SSN because of staff unfamiliarity with the specific features of numerous state birth certificates.”  That just fills me up with all kinds of confidence in federal workers with regards to how well they can spot fraudulent documents!  But it gets even worse.  The DHS wants all Real ID’s to have a 2D barcode of sorts that has all of the card holder’s UNENCRYPTED personal information on it.  They want this 2D barcode strip to be able to be read by any old card reading machine.  GREAT!  That way the kid at the grocery store that checks me out (remember the Real ID will be used in everyday transactions) can procure all my personal information!  SIGN ME UP!  Without any security encryption on your personal information anybody with a card reader can easily steal your identity.  I thought the Real ID was supposed to greatly decrease identity theft.  Sounds like the fastest growing crime in America, identity theft, is going to get a “shot in the arm” in the form of the Real ID.

Not only is the Real ID just ridiculous as all hell, but it’s almost completely impossible to implement by the May, 2008 deadline.  The deadline set by the DHS.  Hell, of the three data bases used to verify identity under the Real ID Act, two aren’t accessible nation wide, and the third doesn’t even exist!  Even the DHS has voiced concerns about not being able to implement the Real ID by the deadline of May 2008 (if you haven’t noticed it’s already May, 2008).  Truthfully, the DHS can’t implement the Real ID right now, but don’t be fooled.  They’re still going to try sometime in the near future.  The DHS doesn’t give up easy.

This is where things get scary.  The DHS wishes to use the ground breaking long range RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Device) chip in the Real ID cards.  The long range RFID chip, when activated, can TRACK YOU WHEREVER YOU GO!  Note:  if you have a modern passport, then you are being tracked.  All modern passports are outfitted with the newest version of the RFID tracking chip.  Doesn’t that sound wonderfully totalitarian?  The Federal Government will know every move you make, every place you go, when you got there, how much time you spent there, and when you left.  No matter what you do, they can track you at all times.  This Real ID stuff just sounds more and more like something Stalin, Castro, or Hitler would love!

All and all, this whole Real ID thing just isn’t good for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, if you ask me.  It’s really just a slap in the face to democracy as whole.  Take all the information I’ve given you in this blog and then go to http://epic.org/privacy/id-cards/epic_realid_comments.pdf and read the entire document for yourself.  The EPIC points out even more detrimental effects that the Real ID will have on America.  Not only will the Real ID strip we the people of even more of our freedoms, it will also be used as a validation of our citizenship.  Think of the havoc that will wreak when the illegal immigrants find out how to steal and counter fit the Real ID (and trust me, they will), or even worse, the havoc it will wreak when the ISLAMIC TERRORISTS figure out how to steal and counter fit the Real ID (I have no doubt that they will).  I’ve already been over how easy it will be to slip fake documents past oblivious DMV workers who will be undertrained and over worked.  Think about if the Real ID was actually implemented.  Going to the DMV to have your license renewed is a big enough hassle.  Think if EVERYBODY had to go to get a new ID/drivers license.  IT WOULD BE HELL!  On top of all the evidence, it is clear that the American people are against the Real ID.  Many States have also refused to take part in the Real ID.  You’re seeing organizations like NC Against Real ID (www.myspace.com/ncagainstrealid) popping up.  Just the other day I saw a car with the words “No Real ID for me!” written on the back windshield in white shoe polish.  You want to see how many people are savvy to the Real ID and the threat it poses to America?  Type “Real ID Act” in the Google search field.  You’ll get about 1,960,000 results.    America is wising up, and fast, about this Real ID Act.  It’s going to take a large, unified, effort on the part of the people of America to crush this thing for good.  I suggest you contact your representatives and tell them “No Real ID for me!”  (www.house.gov to find your Congressmen’s contact info, www.senate.gov to find your senator’s contact info, and comments@whitehouse.gov is the White House’s e-mail address.)  We have to unite under the banner of enduring freedom, much like we did with the “amnesty bill”, and really send the message to our federal government that we don’t want the Real ID, and that we’re perfectly happy with the fake ones we have.  So troops, I suggest you get on the ball as fast as humanly possible before you wake up one day in a totalitarian state where your every movement is tracked and your rights and freedoms to privacy are completely scrubbed in the name of “homeland security”.
